I just noticed that Sansa is described as wearing moonstones on at least 3 different occasions. At Joff's Name Day Tournament: During the Bread Riots:
At her wedding to Tyrion: One of her major plot points is when she gets her "moonblood" which makes her fertile woman, able to marry. She has just arrived at the Gates of the Moon in AFFC, which seems symbolic. Searching online, I found several sites that indicated the moonstone is a symbol of fertility and love and of course, women are often associated with the moon for these reasons. I found these two wikipedia entries interesting from a literary perspective: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Goddess_%28Neopaganism%29en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horned_GodNot really anything new to say, but it seems to be more support for those fertility connections we saw w/ Sansa.

It seems like the moonstones are always associated with her and whomever she is betrothed to at the time, LOL. And her reaction to her first moonblood was a violent one as it signified that Joffrey was free to knock her up. Hmmm...
The Moon is definitely a powerful symbol (especially where wolves are concerned), so it's interesting to see GRRM use it in such a negative context with regards to Sansa. Is he implying that her "wolf" nature is extinct? Or is it the opposite, that the moonstones represent her independent wolf-ish spirit that neither Joffrey nor Tyrion could touch?
